When It Feels Like Your Whole Body Is Involved
LIVING WITH AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE
Autoimmune conditions don't always affect just one part of the body. Symptoms can overlap, change over time, and sometimes improve for a while before returning without an obvious reason.
✓ Fatigue & Low Energy
✓ Joint & Muscle Pain
✓ Digestive Issues
✓ Brain Fog & Difficulty Concentrating
✓ Skin Changes & Sensitivities
✓ Unpredictable Flares
✓ Sleep Disturbances
✓ Headaches & Migraines
✓ Numbness & Tingling
✓ Feeling “Off” Even When Labs Are in Range
You may have good days and difficult days. Certain foods, stress, lack of sleep, illness, or seemingly nothing at all may leave you wondering what triggered a flare. And because symptoms can involve different systems of the body, it can be difficult to understand how everything fits together.
Sometimes even your lab results can come back within the expected range, yet you still don't feel like yourself. You know something feels off, even when the numbers don't seem to explain the fatigue, discomfort, or changes you're experiencing. And even with a diagnosis, you may still be left wondering: What else can I do to help myself feel better?
At HomeTown Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, we start by listening to the whole story. We look beyond individual symptoms to understand the patterns, health history, and factors that may be influencing how you feel—so your care can be tailored to you, not just your diagnosis.

More Than Treating Where It Hurts
OUR APPROACH
Pain isn’t always as simple as the location where you feel it. The source of pain—and the factors that keep it going—may involve muscles, joints, nerves, inflammation, movement patterns, or changes in how the nervous system processes pain signals.
At HomeTown Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, we take a whole-person approach. We consider your symptoms, health history, previous injuries, lifestyle, and broader factors that may influence pain and recovery—including inflammation, nutrition, metabolic health, stress, sleep, and other aspects of overall health.
Your care plan is then personalized to address those contributing factors, combining acupuncture with other therapeutic approaches when appropriate. As you progress, we reassess your response and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.

Therapies We May Use
PERSONALIZED TREATMENT
Your treatment plan may draw from several therapeutic approaches depending on the type of pain you’re experiencing, the factors contributing to it, and how your body responds to care.
Acupuncture & Electroacupuncture
Targeted acupuncture with or without gentle electrical stimulation to address pain, muscle tension, and nerve-related symptoms.
Bioelectric Medicine
Specialized electrical therapies designed to influence pain signaling, support nerve and muscle function, and help address underlying causes of symptoms.
Manual Therapy
Hands-on techniques such as cupping may be used alongside other treatments to address muscular tension, restricted movement, and soft-tissue dysfunction.
Injection Therapy
When appropriate, therapeutic injections may be incorporated to support painful or irritated tissues as part of a broader treatment plan.
Integrative/Functional Medicine
When broader health factors may be affecting pain or recovery, integrative and functional strategies may be incorporated into your treatment plan when appropriate.
Your Pain Care, Step by Step
WHAT TO EXPECT
Your care begins with understanding your pain, health history, and how your symptoms are affecting your daily life. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan and monitor your progress along the way.
01
Comprehensive Evaluation
We start by discussing your symptoms, health history, previous injuries, treatments you've tried, and the ways pain is affecting your movement, sleep, work, exercise, and everyday activities.
02
Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on your evaluation, we'll recommend a course of care and determine which combination of therapies is most appropriate for your needs and treatment goals.
03
Consistent Treatment
Persistent pain often requires a course of care rather than a single visit. Your treatment may evolve as we learn how your symptoms and function respond over time.
04
Progress & Reassessment
We monitor changes in your pain, movement, function, and everyday activities throughout care and periodically reassess your progress to ensure we stay aligned with your treatment goals.
Less Pain. More of What Matters.
THE GOAL OF TREATMENT
Pain isn't just about what hurts. It's about what that pain can keep you from doing.
Maybe you've stopped exercising or doing activities you enjoy. Sleep has become uncomfortable. Work or household tasks take more effort. Or you've simply started planning your day around what you think your body will tolerate.
Our goal is to reduce the impact pain has on your everyday life while helping you improve movement, function, and confidence in what your body can do.
Treatment will help you work toward:
✓ Less pain and discomfort
✓ Easier, more comfortable movement
✓ Better sleep with fewer pain-related interruptions
✓ Greater ability to participate in work, exercise, and everyday activities
✓ Improved function and quality of life
Progress looks different for every patient. That's why we focus on meaningful changes in both your symptoms and the activities that matter most to you.
